Adding a new dog to your existing dog fence

Adding a new dog to your family, and thinking about putting him on your dog fence? Here's what you need to know:

What breeds can learn to use a dog fence?

ANY breed of dog is capable of understanding how to respect a dog fence. That even includes stereotypically stubborn breeds (like Boxers, Pit Bulls, and Rottweilers) and small, sensitive breeds (like Chihuahuas, Yorkies, and Poms). Just remember to follow an effective training process that is tailored to your dog's personality.

Can I have one dog who's on the fence and one dog who's not?

This question is easy to answer: YES!

How old should my dog be before I train him to a dog fence?

I recommend waiting until a dog is 5 to 6 months old before training him to a dog fence. In the meantime, keep your dog on a leash when he goes outside -- doing so will help teach him leash manners, build his bond with you, and protect him from getting into trouble.
